"Burp~~~~!"
The bleary-eyed chimpanzee let out a burp, the kind that seemed determined to squeeze every bit of acidic gas from his stomach. The booming sound echoed through the warmly lit bar.
"Ew! That's the most disgusting gas I've ever smelled come out of a living creature." The female Mage in black stockings covered her nose. She had meant to surprise Bobo, but instead he gave her something even more flavorful. "I thought you were working, Bobo."
The chimp tilted his head, then turned back to stare into his glass. His black-furred hand drifted over the surface of the glass, just as his gaze drifted across the brown ripples.
"We all have bad breath, Little Zatanna. Every living person does. If you knew how many people had died here these past few months, you'd be pouring booze down your throat too. Besides, I own a bar. Alcohol is my entire job."
"I thought Oblivion Bar didn't have much in the way of operating costs." Zatanna fanned the air before her with one hand, her delicate brows knitting together. "At least I have to pay rent for my theater."
"Running television, telephones, internet, and tap water into a Pocket Dimension? You have no idea how high my costs are."
Bobo raised his glass in a toast to the sky. Well, it was all Jim's doing. Bobo himself had no idea how any of it worked, but a large portion of the monthly income was deducted by the bar itself.
"You reminded him again. Now he has an excuse not to pay the bartender, even though she had to scrape her friends' charred corpses off the wooden floor bit by bit with a nail file."
