Alfred's condition improved, and Batwoman gradually relaxed as she spoke with Mister Freeze. She readily paid everyone their compensation.

For example, Mister Freeze needed diamonds. She had hidden a bag in a hollow stalagmite in the Batcave—a bag as large as his fist, looking quite hefty.

Zha Kang's payment was merely a bottle of fine liquor. Though it was worth over a hundred thousand dollars, he would not be able to taste the difference. Alcohol had long since destroyed Constantine's taste buds; the finest liquor was no different from a ten-dollar bottle to him.

As for Cindy, perhaps because she had been the main contributor to the entire operation, she received the most valuable reward.

A greatsword made of Nth Metal. No one knew where Batwoman had acquired it, but it had been stored alongside her extensive collection of Kryptonite Weapons in a small hidden room beneath the console.

There had always been debate over who was the greater Kryptonite collector: Batwoman or Luthor.

In the past, Batwoman and Superman had carried out an operation to destroy Kryptonite. They searched out Kryptonite all over Earth and threw it into the sun to be destroyed.

Only the final piece of Kryptonite remained. Enduring the pain, Superman personally handed it to Batwoman and told her that if he ever lost control or ceased to be a partner of justice, she was to use that Kryptonite to kill him.

"Clark."

"Bruce!"

"Clark."

"Bruce!"

The two clasped hands, tears of emotion filling their eyes, their hearts full of trust and respect for one another.

After some back-and-forth, Superman found holding Kryptonite to be such exquisite torture that he simply could not keep his grip on it. Only then did Batwoman reluctantly accept it, swearing that she would safeguard the planet's last piece of Kryptonite.
