Once nearly everyone had arrived, they collectively used the prearranged Key to the Door to reach a church near the cemetery. Since they had been informed in advance that they would be operating in Muggle society today, none of them wore their usual robes. Dumbledore had even dug out and put on the three-piece suit he had worn in his younger days.
While everyone ate, drank, and chatted in the shop, Hermione had come here ahead of them to make the arrangements.
Her main task had been to convince the church's Chaplain that the deceased had been a devout believer, but had lived abroad with his family and friends for years. This time, he was returning home in spirit and returning to the Lord's embrace, and so on.
In short, she had spun all kinds of lies to patch things up.
In truth, none of the wizards believed in God. Their usual exclamations were things like "Merlin's beard," but since they wanted to use the church cemetery, putting on an act here was necessary.
With everyone present, the ceremony could begin.
The Chaplain found the deceased's relatives rather strange. Their clothing styles looked as though they were from twenty years ago, and many of them seemed not even to understand what "Amen" meant.
Whenever he lifted the Bible, they merely tilted their heads and stared at him blankly, as if they had no idea how they were supposed to react. A few children even had to teach them.
Under other circumstances, the Chaplain would have long since lost his temper and thrown them out. But this time was different.
The deceased's relatives had donated far too much money to the church. Even if the person in that coffin were Satan reincarnated, he still had to be buried behind the church!
