Before everything else, the Marvel Universe had been nothing but a void—perhaps merely a thought, perhaps the dream of some higher-dimensional being.

Within that void, a collection of energy and concepts was born: the First Firmament, drifting through the boundless, pitch-black emptiness.

As time passed, it awakened to its own consciousness. Finding itself unbearably bored, it used its own energy along with matter from the void to mold some little toys. Though each of these toys stood hundreds of kilometers tall, they were as tiny as ants before the First Firmament.

Because the void had been completely dark at the time, it added glowing white patterns to these little things, allowing them to bring a little light and a little amusement.

These toys were the Dark Celestials.

There had been nothing in the void besides the First Firmament and its creations. Bored, the creator kept repeating its model-building process, cutting off little pieces of energy from itself and assembling tiny figures to play with.

As these creations possessing energy and form grew more numerous, they too awakened their own intelligence over time and gradually developed different ideas.

Most Dark Celestials worshipped the First Firmament fanatically and strictly carried out the mission for which they had been created: using everything they had to please their creator.
