A few minutes later, the two poked their heads out from the ruins not far from the Relay Station Tower. Besides a vast number of greenskins, there were also many mangled Imperial Guard corpses here.
In this world, humanity had many armed forces. Space Marines might have been the most famous, but most people would never see gods walking among men in their entire lives.
The ones normally responsible for defending planets or grinding against other Aliens were basically the Imperial Guard—the mortal soldiers.
These mortal soldiers were the main force sustaining the Imperium of Man's millions of worlds, and they were also very human.
Some were fearless and utterly loyal, while others feared death and succumbed to corruption. Unlike Space Marines, they were not so righteous and flawless; they were always troubled by mortal emotions and desires.
Because of the corrupt officials within the Empire, aside from the very few Guard units that brought their own supplies, even the provisions and equipment on many remote planets were problematic. When facing the countless enemies of the universe, their combat effectiveness often left much to be desired.
But they had no problem filling the battle lines. Under the supervision of commissars leading charges from the front, many Imperial Guard units would be completely wiped out on the battlefield.
The situation before them was somewhat similar. The tower was almost entirely stained dark red with dried blood. It seemed these people had died at least two days ago.
"There isn't even a single plant on this planet, just these green mushrooms." Su Ming withdrew his head into the tunnel and whispered to the Battle Sister behind him, "Looks like the Relay Station's Void Shield is scrapped. The Orks are roasting Squigs on top of the tower for fun."
