"Definitely nothing good." Daisy chimed in. Feeling a little sorry for her, she left the passenger seat, squeezed in beside Jean, and wrapped an arm around her shoulders to comfort her. "Don't be sad. Who hasn't run into a few scumbags?"

That comfort was completely beside the point. Scott had surely wanted to save Jean, but with his brother acting alongside him, he had no say at all.

His younger brother, Gabriel Summers, codenamed Vulcan, was an obsessively stubborn violence supremacist.

Everyone knew about Cyclops's family affairs. The tragedy had begun when the whole family had been flying somewhere as children, only to be abducted by a Shi'ar Empire scout ship sent to Earth.

After all, the Shi'ar knew Earth belonged to someone. With the Sorcerer Supreme around, they might not have known Deathstroke, but who hadn't heard of the Ancient One?

Though they coveted the Savage Land, they could only send cloaked ships to observe it in secret.

But once, when a scout ship was passing over the United States, its cloaking device suddenly malfunctioned, and some nearby Earthlings flying past spotted it.

The ship's commander panicked. If word reached the Sorcerer Supreme, the problem would become huge. A warship entering another planet without permission was no different from declaring war. What was he supposed to do?

Legend had it that the corpses of those the Ancient One had killed, holding hands, could circle the Milky Way Galaxy several times over. If she came after the Shi'ar Empire, they would be finished.

So the commander made a wise decision: abduct the witnesses and take them away. Then no one would know, right?

Yes, despite having dozens of different weapons aboard the Shi'ar scout ship, he never considered shooting down the little plane and disguising it as an air crash.
