Su Ming knew that the Shi'ar Empire possessed Stargate technology. This technology could directly connect planetary systems without needing Jump Drives or conventional propulsion to cross the blank zones between star systems.
These so-called blank zones were actually just belts of rubble, meaningless regions.
The advantage of Stargates was that using them to build a transportation network within the Empire meant many Shi'ar spacecraft did not need to be equipped with Jump Drives, saving enormous costs.
Whether hauling cargo domestically or visiting friends and relatives, there was no need for a Jump Drive. Ordinary people could afford these cheap ships.
They could fly to the Stargate in their planetary system, queue up, enter it, and be automatically "launched" by the Stargate to another one in the destination system, like two people playing catch.
The Shi'ar Empire had several hundred such massive Stargates, as well as some smaller ones. They even had portable Stargates capable of transporting army units.
But every advantage had its drawback. Just as during the previous civil war, for reasons unknown, each planetary system could only have one massive Stargate. Once the original Stargate was blockaded, conventional transportation was cut off, making it very easy for separatist standoffs to arise.
Of course, warships were an exception. The Shi'ar Empire possessed the largest fleet in the universe, and its jump technology came in all varieties. Even warships from different member states differed from one another.
No one knew where the miniature Stargate before them led, but it appeared stable enough. The flesh of Carbon-based Lifeforms could withstand spatial travel as well.
Su Ming did not stand on ceremony and walked straight through. It felt different from passing through a Magic Teleportation Portal.
There were many kinds of Magic Teleportation Portals. There were stable versions like those of Kamar-Taj,
