There was a crack in the sky above the Kingdom of Miracles, and it had become a source of distress for all its residents. Though the angels' invasion had been repelled, one day afterward, faceless humanoids began falling from that rift.

Dream was absent, and the castle's residents treated the situation as though facing a great enemy. But they soon discovered that these Faceless Men showed no aggression. In fact, they spent most of every day standing around in a daze.

Their faces, as though drawn with a few simple strokes, always bore the same expression. After falling from the sky and landing, they simply stood there without moving.

But as long as someone gave them an order, they would carry out whatever they were told.

The natives were delighted. These obedient, harmless outsiders were practically free slaves for everyone.

They were immensely strong, diligent without complaint, and needed only a tiny amount of food each day. They were even easier to keep than chickens.

Living with them was somewhat inconvenient, though. After all, no one wanted several expressionless white slave figures standing beside the bed, staring unblinkingly while they made love to their wife, did they?

So the Dreaming natives ordered the Faceless Men to go outside and build houses for themselves. After all, these creatures were so real that they seemed nothing like fairy-tale people. They could starve to death, fall ill, or suffer accidents.

And everyone only had a limited number of slaves. If they died, who would help with the work later? Resources in the Dreaming were abundant, so they might as well let these creatures build homes for themselves and settle down, rather than remain an eyesore.

At first, things were quite good. The Faceless Men built a small village not far from the castle,
