In the town warehouse, Tony looked at Peter's surgical results and turned his face away in disgust.
"How did you get its brains out through its ear canal? They're frozen in its hair now. Even the Ancient Egyptians knew that when making mummies, you removed the brain through the nostrils."
Though Iron Man said that, he still took the corpse out of the freezer and set it down on the floor beside him with distaste for inspection.
"Not me. I only opened her chest and abdominal cavities to look for the cause of death." Peter hurriedly shook his head. He found it disgusting too. It was as if strawberry yogurt had been smeared all over the corpse, giving off a strange bloody stench. "It wasn't like this when I left."
Tony raised a hand and released a grid of light, scanning the corpse's various readings back and forth. His Iron Suit was a mobile laboratory. Biology was admittedly one of its weaker fields, but it could access the databases in the tower, making many problems much easier.
A few seconds later, Iron Man reached a conclusion.
"It died of the flu. I detected the virus. Yes, the same disease you can recover from on your own. Come to think of it, this really is like one of those old sci-fi movies. Martians invade Earth, then die of a cold?"
"I've seen that movie, and I thought it was pretty realistic. If you don't have antibodies in your body, that's what happens." Peter stood with his back to the corpse and Iron Man, filled with guilt toward the dead. But he truly had not insulted the body. He had learned the procedure online, and it had been completely standard. "Before antibiotics were invented, plenty of humans died from the flu too.
