Chaos erupted on the distant street, while a green figure flew along, laughing wildly—the kind of clownish laughter one might hear upon entering a circus.
Explosions kept erupting on the road below wherever he passed, yet they could not drown out his laughter. Maybe he was using some kind of amplification device.
The more she thought about it, the more deranged it seemed.
"Could that green thing be a Skrull?!"
Daisy narrowed her eyes and looked into the distance. Her rented home was on the ground floor, with horses kept in the backyard. It was already a dim evening, and with smoke and panicked crowds blocking her view, she simply could not make out the details.
"Skrulls?" Hela paused the game and leaned closer behind Daisy. "Why are aliens on Earth acting so brazenly? Don't you have those warmhearted Vigilantes?"
"Lots of aliens do whatever they want. Maybe the Vigilantes are busy receiving the All-Father from Asgard, so they have no time?" Daisy glanced sideways at Hela and answered helplessly. "I don't know when the Skrulls began invading Earth, but they've always been hiding among the crowds. Look, the one standing over there by the wall is one too."
The hinted-at All-Father did not think there was anything wrong with coming down to play. She looked at the motionless man by the wall, then at the dog lying nearby, and suddenly understood.
"So he's a controlled Skrull captive? I thought he was a servant. No wonder he doesn't even blink."
"With my living conditions, do you really think I'd have servants?" Daisy walked around Hela and went to retrieve her hammer from the coat rack by the door. "Keep playing. I'll go out and bring him back."
Hela reached out and grabbed the girl's arm—the one not holding the hammer—and
