Starhawk had never been just one person. He was formed from the union of a man and a woman, and to strengthen their Mental Power—something like a "fusion synchronization rate"—and gain greater combat power and a connection to the gods, the brother and sister had even committed incest and become husband and wife.
That was normal enough, though. Arcturus also permitted marriages between siblings, or at least the old Arcturus had.
Later, the planet exploded and everyone died. As for why it exploded, that could wait. All that mattered now was that the siblings often returned to the Arcturus Sector to mourn their planet.
There, amid the asteroid debris, they prayed and listened for the Eagle God, which still existed after the planet's destruction, to guide them. Of course, most of the time, the Eagle God just urged them to hurry up and have children. After all, the hopes of both their race and their faith rested entirely on this pair.
That did not sound like the sort of thing a proper god should do. Normally, it ought to rest like the other elder gods and conserve energy.
But eagles were not like big cats, which could laze around all day. It was always flying through the universe, either invisible or shifted into another dimension.
The Eagle God was a fighter, skilled at destruction and battle, but incapable of building a home or creating anything.
Deathstroke's offer was to help Starhawk restore Arcturus. That would not only benefit the siblings, but was also a very tempting proposition for the Eagle God.
After all, no matter how much it liked flying, it still needed a rock or a branch to land on, right?
Starhawk fell silent, presumably discussing something with his sister in his mind. Only after Deathstroke had nearly finished
