"Close Encounters of the Third Kind, huh?" Su Ming stood by the creek and smiled at J as he approached. "I heard Steven Spielberg is an alien too?"
Feldspar Creek was a winding little mountain stream, flowing merrily amid lush green trees.
The banks were mostly shallow shoals paved with pebbles. Rotten trees and all kinds of trash were piled nearby, so there was no shortage of human traces here.
J shrugged and came to stand beside Su Ming. Looking at the scene by the river, he drew in a breath. "Tsk, that's right. I watched E.T. when I was a kid. He looked just like the alien in that movie. Looks like we can combine the cases. Our killer came here and struck again."
Yes, this scene was already far too obvious. Su Ming did not even need to explain, because the four golden chairs beside the creek said it all.
The chairs faced the waterway, as though the killer had wanted four people to sit there and admire his work.
Two alien corpses soaked in the water. They had been hung from the forked branches of a fallen dead tree, half-floating and half-submerged, their unclosed eyes staring up at the sky.
Su Ming felt something strange. He had killed countless aliens, but he had never seen eyes like those before. The victims' gazes were far too human. At the very least, their emotions were universal.
K, who had finished inspecting the surrounding area, stepped over some obstructive bushes and joined the other three. He looked at the scene and sighed.
Though they had done their best to track the killer down, he had still murdered a second group of victims.
He loosened his tie and spoke in a somewhat low voice.
"We now know that the killer can
