Yrel was hiding in the swamp, gritting her teeth and clutching her stomach as she trudged silently through a forest of enormous mushrooms.
Her assassination plan had failed before it had even begun.
The original plan had been to ride a Void Ray to Shadowmoon Burial Grounds, where Ner'zhul should have been meeting with his demon masters. Then she would descend from the sky and trade her life for his with a leaping strike empowered by the Holy Light.
Yet not long after taking off, as she passed over the fallen town of Elodor in northeastern Shadowmoon Valley, she had been spotted by enormous four-legged demon bats and hunted through the air.
Those grotesque, twisted creatures did not even need sight to track their targets, relying instead on sound waves. They could spit fel fireballs even during High-Speed Flight, and worst of all, there were simply too many of them.
Under the enemy's barrage, Yrel's mount was blasted apart in midair, and she fell into the swamp.
Fortunately, the giant mushrooms had considerable springiness, preventing her from being killed by the fall. Their huge umbrella-like caps also blocked the view of the demon bats circling overhead.
However, a fel fireball had splashed her stomach while she was in the air. She tried to heal herself, but her Holy Light could do nothing about the green-glowing wound in the short term. She could only clutch her stomach and slowly wade through the murky, waist-deep mud.
This place was not far from that town. Orcs and demons could come searching at any moment, so she had to leave as quickly as possible.
Yet this Sporeling Mire lay in a ravine-like trench, with the far end leading to the sea. The waters were home to Spore Giants and bloodthirsty sharks. Since she was
