Peter felt something was off.
He and Wade were playing games together, yet Deathstroke still hadn't left. He sat on the bed behind them, watching Peter play and occasionally offering a few pointers. Was he seriously giving "tactical guidance" even for video games?
Still, it was awesome!
The game Wade had asked Peter to play online today was "Age of Empires." There was clearly Fog of War, and the map was completely blacked out, yet Deathstroke could somehow guess what units the computer was producing. Peter found it utterly unbelievable.
What kind of ability was that? Could he see how the zeros and ones in the program were arranged through the screen?
It was hard to understand, utterly bizarre, but that didn't stop Peter from enjoying some simple happiness. Aunt May wouldn't be home from work for another few hours. To comfort Harry today, he had specifically taken leave from both his fast-food job and the Spider-Girls.
There was hardly any need to ask for leave, really. New York City was being rebuilt, and these past few days, even the villains were probably busy cleaning up their own homes.
So playing games for a while counted as relaxing. After all, all the shocking news had left his thoughts in a tangled mess, and he needed time to process it.
But happy times were always short-lived.
Just as Su Ming was guiding Peter through the game, a sudden gale and a burst of bright light appeared behind them, accompanied by strange laughter.
"Found you! Totem! I—"
Before the intruder could finish speaking, it went silent. Strangle had bitten its head clean off. The headless corpse continued twitching on Peter's filthy floor, bouncing nonstop like a fish out of water.
"You killed someone in my room! What do we do? What do
