While Deathstroke and the group of Spiders left behind happily ate and bonded as a team, Superior Spider's mission was progressing very poorly.
Earth-982's Timeline was ahead of Octo-Parker's world. Aside from all the familiar Superheroes having retired, the environment of this world was not much different from Earth-616.
Its technology was still much the same. Though it seemed to have stagnated for fifteen years, a massive group of Spider-Men suddenly appearing throughout the city could hardly be called discreet.
Worried that they might get tangled up with S.H.I.E.L.D. or the New Avengers, Superior Spider-Man ordered them to speed things up. Without conducting sufficient reconnaissance, the group flooded into Peter and Mary Jane's home.
This world's Peter Parker had lost a leg, an injury left behind from his battle with the Green Goblin. Now, he lived the peaceful life of a retired hero, enjoying family time with his wife and two children in a quiet corner of Queens, New York.
So no matter how Superior Spider-Man tried to persuade him, Peter had no intention of leaving with them. As he put it, his friends and his home were here. No matter what sort of enemies came, he believed his friends would rush over to help.
Octo-Parker patiently explained the terror of the Inheritors, but Peter, having lost a leg, had become fearless. He wanted to test himself against those Vampires.
"I've fought thousands of battles, young people. My friends and I drove back Galactus, defeated Thanos, and saved the universe many times. A few Vampires won't drive me out of my own home."
That was the retired Spider-Man's position. His gaze was firm and he was full of confidence. Perhaps because he had such a large audience, he became especially talkative and wanted to tell everyone about his glorious exploits.
