In BBY 36453, nine mysterious, pyramid-shaped giant ships appeared. These were the Tho Yor mentioned in the Jedi calendar, and they had probably entered this world from outside the galaxy.
They abducted members of different species from across the galaxy, including humans, Sith, and Rakatan, and took them to Tython, a planet rich in the Force deep within the Great Black Hole region at the galaxy's center.
Those captives became the ancestors of the Je'daii, the first organization of Force sensitives. In the ancient language of the Order of Dai Bendu, "Je'daii" meant "mystical (je) center (daii)." The name was later shortened to Jedi.
After bringing the captives to the planet, the nine Tho Yor stayed. They landed and became buildings, which the Je'daii converted into nine temples where they lived and conducted research. Yet they never learned what the Tho Yor's purpose had been.
More than ten thousand years passed. The Je'daii spread across Tython and its neighboring star systems, living in harmony with the Force. They made no distinction between light and dark, and treated one another like family.
