The bodies grew denser inside the castle, but so far, there was no sign of what enemies these Jedi had fought in life. Or had they simply fought one another?
Every set of remains belonged to a Jedi in brown robes, lightsaber in hand. The closer they got to the basement, the more bodies filled the path. Dozens of meters from the door, they had to climb over a mountain of corpses in the narrow corridor.
Fortunately, the bodies were springy. Bouncing across them was surprisingly fun, and they felt good underfoot.
The basement door was much flimsier than the castle gate. Su Ming punched straight through it, then tore open a passage as if ripping paper. Everyone jumped through into the basement.
Just as Aphra had guessed, the ancients liked putting power equipment in castle basements. A set of machinery resembling a boiler stood here.
A few bodies lay scattered around it, but the fighting clearly had not reached the equipment. It merely looked old, with several centimeters of dust coating it.
"Air circulates through here, so corrosion might be a problem. Zero Three, clean it up."
Having a robot around made things easier. Aphra put her butler to work, then folded her arms and circled the machine.
Pipes of every size protruded from it. The machine itself resembled a huge chimney, with sixteen control panels and a diameter of roughly thirty meters.
"Cleaning complete. I did a thorough job." Zero Three put away the flamethrower in his hand and showed his master the gleaming control panel behind him. "Still warm, too. Go right ahead, master."
"Ouch, that's a little hot. Still, better safe than sorry when it comes to disinfecting. There are so many bodies here, I suspect the dust is all their dead skin."
Aphra began operating
