Naboo lay near the edge of the galaxy's Outer Rim, but it was far from barren. In fact, it was one of the Outer Rim's rare jewels.
The planet's geology was unusual. It had no core, much like Franlo, though it had far more water.
With water in abundance, a certain degree of biodiversity was practically guaranteed.
If Franlo was like a fluffy sponge, Naboo was more like a loofah. A complex network of caves and tunnels ran through its rocky interior, allowing water from the many lakes and swamps on its surface to seep deep underground.
The planet's original inhabitants were the Gungans, amphibious sapient beings with light brown skin and heads that looked rather like lizards'.
Humans had fought them when they first colonized the planet. In the end, the humans claimed the surface, while the Gungans continued living in their underwater and subterranean cities. Neither side bothered the other.
The Gungans used the flooded cave network for transport. Humans struggled to fight them underwater, and they had domesticated some enormous amphibious beasts with astonishing appetites. They were no pushovers in battle; they simply preferred peace.
Vast lakes and open plains covered the planet's surface, with green hills appearing here and there. It all looked as beautiful as an oil painting.
Living amid such beauty, the Gungans had developed a fine sense of art. Their cities were beautiful too, with transparent underwater domes built using hydrostatic bubble technology.
The humans who settled there gradually fell under the landscape's spell as well. They came to value commerce and art, becoming the renowned Naboo People, another peace-loving people.
They were rather more extravagant, though. Naboo clothing was famous for its lavish decorations and intricate combinations. The palaces glittered within and bore beautiful blue domes without. Walking anywhere in their cities
