"Don't you hate me, Master Yoda?"

Darth Vader's voice sounded as though it came from the bottom of a well. With the rasp of his respirator, he seemed to have lost all strength.

"Hatred is the last thing a Jedi needs. Obi-Wan and I taught you to wield your Lightsaber with reason, not let anger take control of your body." The Little Green Man leaned on his cane and used The Force to help Darth Vader up from the ground. "Many masters have returned to The Force at your hands. You must take responsibility and train new masters to replace them."

Yoda knew Anakin's temperament well. The young man had always been deeply emotional, placing great weight on both kindness and grudges.

The Jedi did not demand that their members cast aside all emotion. Yoda, at least, would never ask that of an apprentice. But he also knew that emotions taken too far could lead someone to extremes and leave him in the grip of the Dark Side.

Meditation was essential to every Jedi. They had to contemplate the universe, but also see themselves clearly. Palpatine had once blinded Anakin to the truth.

Now, though, Anakin had come to his senses. He could still be brought back to a balance between light and dark.

"I'm a Dark Jedi. In many people's eyes, I'm even a Sith. Can I really still..." Skywalker lowered his head and looked at the Little Green Man as though he were his last hope.

"I don't know. But Master Deathstroke over there should have a way. He's waiting for you." Yoda nodded to Padmé, signaling for her to say something to persuade Anakin too. Whatever grievances lay between husband and wife could be discussed later.

Padmé wiped the tears from her face and patted Anakin's black
