"Reed, I'm so hungry. Let's go find something to eat, okay?"

Beside the half-built giant vortex-shaped Teleportation Portal, Susan, whose face was completely rotten and whose chin no longer had a shred of flesh on it, whined at Reed. She was too hungry to keep working.

There was still snow on the tundra, with reddish-brown lichen showing beneath the white, making it look like a bald, patchy scalp.

Zombies did not exhale warm breath when they spoke, even in the freezing cold. The icy wind swept across the empty plains, making the conifer forest along the coast creak and groan. Zombie Reed stopped working as well and clutched his stomach.

He was hungry too. Hunger was like a blazing fire, scorching his long-dead heart and branding Desire into his mind.

But he was the Rubber Man. He only needed to twist his stomach into a knot to effectively ease the problem and retain a certain degree of rationality.

If he could endure it himself, there was no need to care whether anyone else was starving. He looked at his wife and slowly shook his head.
