"Doctor Santo got here ahead of us, so that gave him several extra months to prepare?" Bobo took a drag from his cigarette. Used to smoking a pipe, he awkwardly flicked away the ash. "No wonder he still ran even though he was doomed once you set your sights on him. Looks like he wanted to make one last stand by exploiting the difference in Timeline Speed."
If that was true, it also explained several other things.
Brutus had fought the Justice League, fled when he couldn't win, and even said he would return once he was prepared.
They had originally assumed he had some highly advanced, resource-rich world backing him, which was why he dared to challenge Superman like that. But if the only difference was the Timeline Speed, then everyone had overestimated him.
From Earth-0's perspective, Brutus seemed to launch a second attack just hours after the first, wearing plenty of new gear and apparently growing much stronger in a short time.
But from the perspective of the Earth beneath their feet, he had probably retreated to recover, spent several months there, then returned to the battlefield with newly developed equipment.
Different Earths created different perspectives. Differences in Timeline Speed led to different judgments. Brutus had far more time to prepare after every departure than everyone believed.
By the same logic, Doctor Santo had soybean trade with this place. That meant he had always known this Earth existed, and he might even have been the one secretly providing Brutus with technological support. The soldiers' equipment was likely the same way.
So the bald man's meteoric rise with Acolytes Corporation in Silicon Valley a few months ago had not been the sudden inspiration of a genius. It was the result of long-term accumulation in another world.
That made sense.
