Green ice crystal shards carpeted the lakeshore. The golden sword light flickering from Deathstroke's hand made them glimmer on and off, like lush grass dusted with gold powder.

Brutus was starting to look a little desperate. This time, he said nothing. After crawling out through a small hole at the bottom of the crater, he launched an attack on Luthor.

All four people present could move at least at lightspeed. Any moment of hesitation or mistake would be infinitely magnified.

Yet Su Ming merely watched the Minotaur charge at the bald man who had just finished shattering the ice, making no move at all. He seemed to be considering something.

Back in his previous life, he had often felt that comic book speed standards were flawed. By conventional understanding, once someone exceeded the speed of light, time should flow backward—at least, that was what Einstein had said.

Yet in comics, the only person who had truly reversed time through speed alone was Silver Age Superman. No matter how fast everyone else flew, casually surpassing lightspeed, it seemed to have little to do with time.

Take J'onn, for example. As a Martian, his physical abilities were almost on par with a Kryptonian's, and he had even once been called the "Martian Superman."

But even at top speed, he could not reverse time. Otherwise, Su Ming guessed he would most likely have gone back to save his wife and child.

After Su Ming's own speed reached the faster-than-light level, he discovered that unless he used the Time Stone, he simply could not alter time through speed. It was as though the two concepts had completely decoupled, going beyond his previous understanding of the universe.

Was this some restriction the world placed upon people? To ensure the story progressed normally? Or something else?
