When it was summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it was winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Antarctica was currently in the midst of polar night.
Yet the sky was not dark. The upturned corners of a napkin were icebergs, while what surged like ink was the sea. But white and black were not the dominant colors here, because everything was shrouded in a hazy yet sinister light.
It was the aurora. The unusual changes in Earth's magnetic field made the night sky above everyone's heads seem as though it had blossomed. Though Su Ming had visited many worlds, he had never seen such a chaotic, multilayered auroral phenomenon.
A normal aurora should have looked like a gauzy curtain, shimmering with beautiful rainbow hues. In ancient Scandinavia, it had even been called the Queen Mother's sash, or the glow of a hearth spilling out when Valkyrie opened the gates of Valhalla for fallen warriors—the Bifrost's passage to the heavens beyond.
But the aurora here was wrong. It looked like a tornado with solid form, giving the impression of hard shards of glass, or glass flowers frozen in midair. The corners of each curtain curled outward, as though they were withering.
"Adjutant, can't you see the aurora here from outer space?" Deathstroke drew in a breath of frigid air, as if he had inhaled a handful of ice chips into his lungs. A faint sting ran through his airways.
"My sensors have yet to detect Earth-0's aurora from outside the multiverse. Strangle's transmission of your first-person perspective was what allowed me to see this scene. I am currently checking Sepulk's sensor array. I suspect Darkseid may have interfered with the observation results, but no program anomalies have been found so far."
The Adjutant's projection appeared in his eyepiece. She was clearly rather puzzled
