Just as Detective Chimp had said, once the group passed through the gate and entered the maze, tense, thrilling music began to play. It seemed to come from within the walls, and no matter which direction they went, it lingered in their ears.
"Is he trying to disrupt our hearing with this noise first?"
Kate, beneath her black cape, followed Deathstroke like a dark cloud. Before them lay a hall with dozens of passageways.
"If someone is trapped in a maze too long with only one song to listen to, an ordinary person will inevitably grow irritated. But I'm Batwoman. Gotham got tired of this sort of thing ages ago. Besides, Doctor Bedlam is a terrible musician."
"The magnetic field is a mess, but it doesn't matter."
Lorna was more practical. She only cared about where the enemy was, so she remained calm and composed, as tranquil as if she had returned home.
The maze's interior had a highly technological feel, but its walls were not made of metal. They were stone. Doctor Bedlam had likely hollowed out an asteroid and modified it for this operation.
But it was most likely not prepared for Deathstroke. Just as all of Luthor's armor was configured specifically against Superman, Doctor Bedlam's maze had been designed entirely to counter Mister Miracle.
When designing a maze, one's mind would inevitably be filled with the image of one's arch-nemesis. Without realizing it, one would make all kinds of assumptions and speculate about every possible response from the imagined opponent.
