"I saw it. The Red showed me the origin and evolution of a species—their story, their history, their desires."

Just as Su Ming and Harley were talking about Uncle Darkseid's daughter, Black Orchid, who had been sitting nearby with her eyes closed, suddenly spoke.

It was unclear whether she had ever seen the spirit-possession rituals in China, but she looked exactly like that now. Anyone unaware of the situation would probably think she needed a stay at Arkham.

"Ahem. We don't care about On the Origin of Species, and Darwin isn't here. Be direct, good girl. Ask that invisible red big shot of yours whether these bugs came from beyond the multiverse. If not, we'll need to pursue another line of investigation."

Bobo puffed on his pipe and interrupted the shaman's descriptive speech. She looked ready to start with the Big Bang, and that was making his head numb.

Black Orchid had been building up to tell a long story, but Detective Chimp's interruption instantly ruined the mood.

She opened her eyes irritably and snapped at the chimp:

"What good does rushing me do? The visions The Red showed me started from the very beginning. I'm only a spokesperson, not The Red itself! Why don't you be the mouthpiece? You've got an advantage in that regard, seeing as you're an animal."

Animal Man was another spokesperson for The Red, but he could only transform into animals. He was no match for Bobo, who was an animal himself.

"No." The chimp immediately shook his head. His reason for refusing, given that he knew nothing about The Red, was rather shallow. "I'm not even an animal-rights activist. I like beef, and I like Italian meatballs. If I'm not allowed to kill animals and eat meat, you might as well kill me first."
