Su Ming did not answer the giant spider's question. He merely smiled as though he had not heard it.
It seemed to lose interest in climbing trees. The spider turned back into a mummy and fell from the tree with a thud, its linen wrappings instantly soaked through by rainwater.
Then it began dancing in an Ancient Egyptian style, revealing a dried-up deadpan face from beneath its bandages.
Smiling, Deathstroke folded his arms and lit a cigarette. As he watched the mummy dance, he said,
"Your power comes from human hearts. You possess eternal life. As long as humanity exists, you will never truly die."
"An Ancient Egyptian once wrote a book claiming I would starve to death. But in reality, heh heh, I can rest for twenty-seven years at most. And as you know, time has no meaning in this world."
The mummy replied, its voice becoming as rough as coarse sand:
"Anyway, whenever someone harbors malicious thoughts and secretly disparages others, I gain power. After all, the greatest use of an adult's imagination is speculating about other people."
"For example?" the Sorcerer Supreme prompted the mummy to continue.
"For example, if someone sees two men hugging and patting each other's asses on the street, they might think, 'Those two might be gay. Disgusting.' Then the power of their dark fantasies becomes mine to use."
The mummy transformed into a Vampire again, apparently showing Deathstroke what it could do. Yet it kept talking, as though afraid the Cowboy would not understand:
"For another example, when someone hates another person and imagines ways to hurt them, their loathing and hatred awaken me as well, and I help people solve their troubles."
By now, Magik roughly understood.
This Joker was not really a Joker. He was a "concept" connected to the
