Hearing the sound of shattering glass and the wind from the high-rise blowing through the corridor, Magik returned from the stairwell outside the door.
Her clothes were still neat and clean, but some spiderweb-like stuff seemed to have gotten caught in her hair. She tore at the webs as she walked toward her teacher beside the throne.
"I didn't expect the Undead Creatures to have spider-like things too. These webs are so hard to deal with. Did you kill the Blood King, Master?"
Su Ming crushed the last crystal ball belonging to the Blood King, listening to the pained wails coming from them as he replied,
"It's done. Though strictly speaking, he killed himself."
He then explained what had happened to his student—the process of the two sides negotiating terms.
Illyana pulled out a towel from her pouch and wiped her hair, looking slightly unable to keep up. "You mean the Blood King lived just so he could die?"
"Whether it was his own wish or the role the multiverse assigned him, yes. He lived to die."
Deathstroke sat on the throne piled from bones. At that moment, he felt as though he had gained control of the castle and could even sense its breathing. He had Strangle connect to the throne and asked Adjutant for remote assistance while dividing his attention to speak with Magik.
"Across countless cycles, the Blood King's purpose was to die again and again at the hands of Roland, the World Protagonist, then make Roland choose. No matter what he chose in the end, the world would 'reload.' Roland would return to the beginning of his journey, and every enemy or friend he had killed in the previous cycle, or who had died unnaturally, would come back to life. A similar yet entirely different story
