God Eater glared while drooling, whereas Chthon narrowed his eyes with a smile.
Beneath Great Shadow's blue cloak, his gray face was covered in cracks. He looked like a shattered glass ornament that had been glued back together, and his smile was anything but pleasant.
As God Eater charged toward him at high speed, Chthon merely raised a hand. Red Chaos Magic shaped a body resembling Oshtur, which he held as a shield, forcing God Eater to halt.
"You deserve to die!"
The enormous amorphous Black Mud flew into a rage. His reverence for his mother prevented him from attacking a shield bearing Oshtur's likeness, leaving him no choice but to abandon this assault.
"You childish, laughable fool. You are merely a tool." Chthon spoke for the first time, his voice like a hallucinatory echo from a nightmare, repeating endlessly between heaven and earth. "You regard her and Gaea as your mothers, but how have they treated you?"
Great Shadow's cloak billowed without wind as red Chaos Magic energy erupted from his body. The entire Totality was dyed red, and the floating dust mingled with radiant colors like a vast, dazzling nebula.
Compared with God Eater's impatience and fury, Chthon was far more composed. In some respects, he was even telling the truth.
Back then, Oshtur and Gaea had made God Eater from mud and branches, then ordered him to devour every enemy demon. Beyond that, there was nothing else.
Compared to Agamotto, another creation of Oshtur, poor God Eater seemed more like a weapon or a tool—anything but family.
Even the Elder
