At the boundary between darkness and light, Twisted Peak stood towering over the pitch-black plain.
Like a rough pencil sketch, it was rugged and majestic. When people saw it, their eyes were not immediately drawn to the giant gemstones embedded in the mountain, but rather to the mountain as a whole.
It seized the mind. Its very existence was a miracle.
Though Su Ming had seen it in comics in his previous life, seeing it appear before him in reality was an entirely different experience.
Unexpectedly, there were no Apokolips troops nearby. The black plain was utterly silent, without so much as a silhouette or a glimmer of light.
The breeze carried a scent mixed with dust and green grass.
"Everyone, follow me."
Su Ming stood atop a rock jutting out of the ground and surveyed the area, then had Strangle sniff around back and forth.
There were no New Gods and no Evil Thought Nobles, at least not anywhere within sight.
"I'm a little worried." The bald man fastened his green helmet, and his voice was somewhat muffled beneath his Green Knight outfit. "It's too quiet here. Did you notice? Forget enemies—there aren't any other living creatures besides us."
"That football player over there, our bald gentleman is worried now. Do you know what you should do at a time like this?"
Deathstroke, who had already started walking toward the foot of the mountain, did not answer directly. Instead, he called out to Grandma Yang, making it clear that he wanted the black kid to come up with something.
They were now less than a hundred meters from Twisted Peak. They could easily walk there.
"Huh? What should I do?" The young man was walking alongside the even younger boy when he was suddenly called by name. He jolted.
