"Wake up, Superman's here!"

Those simple words jolted Luthor awake from his sleep. Leaning against a tree, he sprang to his feet and looked everywhere for that red-and-blue figure.

Unfortunately, Superman was nowhere to be found. Deathstroke had tricked him. All the bald man saw was the Mercenary standing with two goddesses, a kitten in his arms as he lazily stroked its fur.

Luthor rubbed his face, looking rather displeased. "How did I fall asleep?"

"You brought it on yourself. Who told you to listen to Dream tell stories?" Su Ming chuckled as he dusted off Luthor's back, then took off the Cloak of Levitation and let it float before him before sitting sideways on it. "Forget you—even Batwoman and I couldn't withstand it. Didn't you know that when Daniel wears his mask, his voice becomes a melody that puts people to sleep? You heard the sand, right? That's all it takes."

Dream's greatest specialty was hypnotizing others. Sometimes, merely seeing him appear was enough to send people into slumber.

It was a little like the question of whether the egg came first or the chicken: did Dream make people fall asleep and dream, or did people dream first, causing Dream to arrive? No one could say for sure.

Still, unless someone had nothing better to do or suffered from some severe mental illness, no normal person would study that sort of thing.

"Impossible to guard against," Luthor sighed. He quickly composed himself, but he could not allow himself to be the only one fooled. So, copying the same trick, he quietly approached Sinestro and whispered into his ear, "Hal is here."

When he saw the Yellow Lantern suddenly jolt awake and look around in confusion, the corners of Luthor's mouth rose involuntarily.
