"That was a little unexpected."
By the pool at the mountaintop villa, Deathstroke lay by the edge drinking pineapple juice. He shrugged, stirred the blue water with one hand, and spoke in an inverted sentence:
"The Forerunners' response was far too primitive, if it had been the Swarm."
Logically speaking, after seeing the new mech through the Kaiju's eyes—a new weapon with formidable destructive power—they should have paused their offensive. Whether they upgraded their own weapons or sent expendable scouts, they should not have made this decision.
They had been driven back yesterday, yet today they had sent three Category IV Kaiju. Were they clearing out their stockpile? Or preparing for a sea-of-bugs tactic?
Probably not. The undersea breach was not large enough to let too many, or overly large and powerful, Kaiju pass through at once. A sea-of-bugs tactic had no room to be implemented at all.
Unless their biotechnology was beyond imagination, and these three monsters were all upgraded new models?
Still, it should not be much of a problem. Hong Kong Shatterdome now had two new units, in addition to its original four Jaeger Pilots. They already held a numerical advantage, and Kampfer's specifications were far more advanced than Zaku Warrior's.
"Do we need to go to the Shatterdome command room, Sheriff?" the Adjutant asked. She was swimming fully clothed, her skirt billowing like an oversized jellyfish.
"No. They'll definitely broadcast the battle live again today, so we'll watch it from home." Deathstroke dug water out of his ear, then pulled out a cigarette from the belt beside the pool. Lying on the tiles, he lit it. "What we need to do is simple. Provide humanity with weapons, then support them as they carve out their future."
