The Golden Fertilizer Survival Team let out subdued cheers. In the apocalypse, a generator was practically a godsend.
The observatory had originally possessed its own backup generator, but the endless hail and rain had flooded the basement without anyone noticing, and the old one had been ruined.
Luckily, Thomas had brought back a new generator last night. Its output was much lower, but having electricity at all was enough for now.
After leaving everyone the generator and fuel, the man had departed alone again. Perhaps he had gone to seek hope for everyone's future. In any case, every survivor was fond of someone so capable and selfless.
The children went back to watching cartoon DVDs, while Harley sat off to one side with Old Mike, the Russian auntie, and the others in charge, watching a small car TV that had been removed from a vehicle. Channel 52 was replaying the brief battle between King Ghidorah and Rodan.
"No idea when this TV station popped up, but I think everyone there might be a little crazy."
Old Mike held a cigarette between his fingers, a bitter smile appearing on his wrinkled face as he tapped his temple.
"Today, to analyze the fight between those two flying monsters, they actually brought in some yo-yo expert remotely. What the hell does that have to do with anything?"
The replay showed the two colossal beasts tearing at each other above the sea. Setting everything else aside, people did not even know how the footage had been filmed.
But it was the end of the world now, and this was the only remaining source of outside information. They had a choice, but their only choices were watching or not watching Channel 52.
