They were shot down and killed, crashing to the ground. Their corpses piled into fleshy mountains with wings. The place had become like a poultry slaughterhouse, covered in blood and fallen white feathers, with not a trace of Heaven left in sight.
One Angel was cut in half at the waist by Donna and fell to the ground. Yet he seemed to feel no pain at all. When he saw Deathstroke's back turned nearby, his eyes lit up.
Dragging his ruined body, he crawled quickly forward, his wings brushing the ground like paintbrushes and leaving two red streaks behind. Then, silently, he pushed off with both hands and leaped at his enemy like a torpedo, apparently intending to bite the flesh off the back of Deathstroke's calf.
But a black shadow suddenly emerged from behind Deathstroke's knee, opened an enormous mouth full of sharp teeth, and bit the Angel's head clean off!
The headless Angel flapped twice before finally falling still.
Strangle spat the tasteless hair and bone fragments to one side, then withdrew into its host's body.
