Colonel Kaine was inspecting his army.
He had no hobbies besides admiring all kinds of weapons. It was practically an occupational disease for a former League of Assassins member. Not just him—even Batwoman had plenty of warehouses dedicated to displaying various weapons.
But Kaine had never been an ordinary assassin in his youth. While others began taking jobs for the organization after mastering several hundred ways to kill, he spent all his spare time studying The Art of War. Though it had initially been mere armchair strategy, he soon truly developed command ability through countless operations.
His command skills were outstanding within the organization. He seemed born to be a commander, and had once risen to become Ra's al Ghul's deputy.
Until one day, he decided the League of Assassins could no longer offer him any help. Having accumulated enough capital of his own, he took some men and some money and fled to Africa to start anew.
Amid the wars between various warlords, a mercenary corps could grow rapidly. Kaine was capable enough that even Ra's al Ghul could do nothing to him. Later, he returned to the United States and cooperated with the military, handling dirty work such as black ops for military higher-ups, and even earned himself the rank of colonel.
Then he had the idea of returning home in glory, only to discover that his hometown had gained a Batman.
Bane, Batwoman, and Kaine were all traitors to the League of Assassins, and technically fellow disciples. But all three wanted Gotham, so there was only one way for warriors to settle it.
Thus, in the days that followed, Kaine repeatedly challenged Batwoman to war, intending to seize Gotham with his army and impose military rule.
And time after time, he was defeated by Batman, suffering losses
