The three spheres glowing blue-green seemed to be manipulated by invisible hands, stacked one atop another—if up and down even existed in space.
The planets were connected through the frigid regions that appeared to be their north and south poles. All that was missing was a rod through the middle.
No, perhaps there was such a rod, only it could not be seen. The three planets' rotational angular velocities were gradually synchronizing amid massive geological upheavals.
Storms, floods, and volcanoes were nothing compared to planets colliding. But the force that could make these three planets touch without completely smashing them apart was rather interesting.
"Was it the Sovereign?"
The longship had already accelerated, and the rowing ghosts' expressions had grown more agonized. Carol's first thought was that they had encountered that glittering golden race. She even wanted to jump onto the longship's mast and look around for any nearby golden space carriers.
When it came to the Sovereign, aside from their obsessive-compulsive fascination with gold, they were best known for their planetary engineering.
They collected planets with golden atmospheres from throughout the universe, dragged them back beside their homeworld, and grafted them onto it according to their own artistic sensibilities.
Anyone who had seen the Sovereign Supreme Star would think their homeworld looked like a cluster of grapes, or a string of undeveloped eggs pulled from a chicken's belly.
But as long as something was golden, the Sovereign considered it art.
"Not the Sovereign." Hela grabbed the female pilot, who was about to climb the mast, and shook her head. "These three planets are green or blue habitable worlds. Their atmospheres have nothing to do with gold. Unless they're solid gold underground, the Sovereign wouldn't be interested."
"Nor are they gold-mining planets."
Thanos held a small device in his hand.
