This time, Su Ming witnessed firsthand how everyone vanished. He not only saw it with his own eyes, but also sensed through the darkness the disturbance caused when those dimensions swallowed them.
Like some Beast lurking in the darkness, the dimensional entrances were like mouths, dropping over their respective prey from above.
It felt a little like the Great Vanishing magic trick: cover someone with a black cloth, then pull it away, and the person was gone.
"Strange. Which person gets thrown into which dimension seems completely random." Su Ming had Cloak carry everyone after Jessica; the female detective had just been swallowed by a dimensional entrance as well. "But I don't think our enemy would be that casual. At the very least, if it were me, I'd make targeted arrangements for different people."
"Maybe our enemy doesn't understand Earth's Heroes?" Carol took a deep breath as everyone prepared to enter the dimension. "Or maybe the enemy is just an idiot?"
Cloak silently began to descend, slipping into the open invisible entrance like crawling into a lion's stomach while it slept with its mouth open.
"Let's hope it's the former. The odds of the enemy being an idiot aren't high."
Carol's suggestion made everyone, Thanos included, laugh. Hela smiled and rested a hand on Captain Marvel's shoulder.
"Because an idiot could never become a spellcaster. So far, our enemy has displayed considerable ability, and powerful Mages are often forged through the accumulation of time. Fools don't live that long."
Deathstroke, walking at the very front of the flying carpet, nodded. Hela was not wrong; at least most Mages needed time to build up their strength.
Though the Marvel Universe was not like DC, where dark thoughts were especially necessary, thinking things through too simply would often still get one killed.
