"Did I just tell them to go to the Hall of Justice? I didn't accidentally say the Justice Society's Battery Park headquarters, did I?"
Watching the Chief dash off in a flash, Su Ming asked the gorilla who was collecting the cookies in confusion:
"The Justice League and the Justice Society are different. There aren't any old ladies over sixty for him to cozy up to in the former."
Bobo's hand paused as he gathered the cookies, and he rolled his eyes speechlessly.
"The Chief may be unreliable, but he's not as unreliable as you imagine. Maybe he just wants to mooch off the Final Machine at the Hall of Justice to treat his back injury?"
Well, the Chief was paraplegic too. It was perfectly reasonable for him to want to try the Final Machine, the ultra-intelligent fully automated surgical bed available only to Justice League members.
"If he wants to use the Final Machine, I'm afraid he'll be disappointed. The user still needs at least some medical knowledge, or a medical expert assisting nearby, to achieve the best results." Batwoman smiled as she picked up the gorilla and rubbed the green cap on his head. "And based on what I know about Mister Terrific, the head of research and medical affairs, he should have disappeared again by now."
Yet upon hearing Batwoman's words, Bobo showed a terrified expression. He leaped onto Deathstroke's shoulder and hid behind his back, revealing only a pair of wary eyes as he whispered:
"The Batman Who Laughs!"
As he spoke, he pointed at Zorn with a black-furred paw and gulped.
Batwoman actually laughed. Not only Bobo—even the Doom Patrol members who had been about to return to their rooms and pack their things immediately took up fighting stances.
