The black-furred animal rolled his Byakugan at him, pursed his lips, and said, "I'm just an ape. It's already good enough that I have a name. Where would I get a surname? Not only do I not know who my parents are, but even if I did, they probably wouldn't have surnames either, right?"

"You can pick a surname yourself, based on something you like to eat or the environment you live in. That's how English surnames originally came about. If someone lived in the woods, their family might be called Wood; if they drank spring water every day, they could be called Spring. If you like Japanese style, you could call yourself Matsushita or Inoue or something."
