Hell's demons came in every conceivable variety, with freaks of all kinds among them. They were products of the concept of Chaos. Chaos represented disorder, and disorder meant there were no rules.
To say that a creature had no discernible pattern to its appearance usually meant it was ugly, but ugly in a creative way.
Take Hell Chancellor Beelzebub, for example. He looked like a giant fly, and his open belly was crawling with little flies. Those little flies even produced maggots, which fell to the ground like white rain whenever Beelzebub moved while speaking.
To ordinary people, it was disgusting, sure, but who could say he wasn't creatively designed?
Yet among Hell's many races, one group was famous for its beauty: the former Angels who had followed Lucifer in falling during the Millennium War. They retained their beautiful faces from long ago; only their wings had changed from white to black.
As their leader, Lucifer also had several pairs of wings. After cutting off his original white pair, Hell's power gave him a pair of black wings, though he normally did not reveal them.
