Accompanied by a faint glimmer, the figures of three people gradually emerged in the air, as though they had stepped out of a steam-filled bathhouse. One of their bodies was even reflecting light.
Silver White spoke. With the strongest physique, she had charged ahead to scout the way for her teammates.
She quickly discovered that this truly was a barren wasteland. There was not even a single hair on this destination planet. As far as the eye could see, there were only dull gray wastelands, making it feel very much like the Moon.
The only difference was that this planet was larger and not nearly as reflective.
It had an atmosphere, with oxygen levels suitable for human survival and a comfortable temperature. That was extremely strange.
Planets with such conditions usually gave rise to some form of life. Even the lowest single-celled organisms would do. It should not have been so utterly lifeless.
Batwoman emerged from the teleportation zone behind her. She did not answer the girl, merely lowered her head to look at the small display on her bracer, where an atmospheric composition analysis was underway.
The results came out within seconds. The atmosphere here was almost identical to Earth's. Only the nitrogen content was lower by one percent, with oxygen and hydrogen taking up that tiny share instead.
By all logic, this should have been a habitable planet. Yet all that lay before them was desolation. There was not only no life, but not even any sign that life had ever existed here.
