If dreams were worlds belonging exclusively to each individual, then entering someone's dream was undoubtedly entering the depths of their heart.
Did this world truly exist?
It was real to the person who possessed it, because it was their own dream, something to which they held the rights.
But did dreams mean anything to others?
Apparently not. Everyone knew that other people dreamed, but the vast majority had no interest in anyone else's dreams.
This wasn't some talent show where you went onstage and had to ask people what their dreams were. Most people's beautiful dreams actually shared something in common: they focused on the present or the future, on living better within those beautiful dreams. There was no need to ask.
Nightmares, on the other hand, were exactly the opposite. People in nightmares were often immersed in pain from the past, or terrifying things they had seen in reality. It was a negative emotion that looked backward.
So when beautiful dreams and nightmares were brought together, could they yield complete Timelines? That was why nightmares had meaning for Dream, and why they had to exist.
