Watching a person in a dream spew out a large amount of purple wax was far more horrifying than squeezing toothpaste.

Hatching a Nightmare inflicted tremendous trauma on a person's mental body within the dream. In reality, it manifested as that person suddenly succeeding at losing weight.

Someone who had originally been fat would instantly have most of their life force taken away by the Nightmare. The process showed directly on the body: large amounts of fat and protein were lost, converted into energy.

The damage from this process was nearly irreversible, but as long as the person remained alive and recuperated slowly, it would not necessarily shorten their lifespan.
