Two boxes sat before him. Su Ming crouched in front of them, pinching his chin as he thought.
The two wooden boxes were exactly the same size. When he tapped them a few times, they produced the dull thumping sound of wood. Lifting them to inspect the bottoms revealed intact wooden boards as well.
"So this time, we know the answer, but have to find the riddle instead?" Deathstroke spoke to his Symbiote, but in the vast empty warehouse, his voice did not even produce the faintest echo.
This boundless warehouse was practically a world, wasn't it? Then what did these piles of stacked boxes represent?
"Eep?"
The Symbiote continued interacting with its host. It extended numerous tendrils to search for boxes on other piles, asking whether it also needed to find a panel with four slots.
"It could be four, or three, or even seven." Su Ming had it rummage through the surroundings first while he studied the boxes. "The number probably doesn't matter much. Let's look for things first and worry about deduction later."
As he spoke, he opened the two boxes in front of him. Sure enough, there were boxes nested inside them. After taking those out, he now had four boxes.
If he kept opening boxes like this, there would probably be no end to it. That also meant the riddle he wanted was most likely not inside the boxes.
Never mind how many boxes existed in this space—the endlessly nested-doll arrangement alone made it impossible to open them one by one.
The Symbiote tried opening several box lids, but when it saw more boxes inside, it did not take them out. Instead, it paid more attention to the emergency indicator lights nearby, since those were more likely to be the key to leaving this place.
