On an isolated alien planet, Thanos, once the overlord of the universe, now wore plain cloth garments as he quietly tended his fields.
He had once made pleasing Death his goal in life. The countless souls brought by slaughter had been his gifts. He had destroyed so many planets and races that even he could no longer remember how many civilizations he had driven to extinction.
But now, he was merely an ordinary farmer, planting "hope" in this soil with his own two hands.
The fruit he grew resembled an eggplant from Earth, and somewhat resembled a melon as well. Its scientific name was probably Kabbalah Fruit, though Thanos had simply named it "Hope."
A vast stretch of land before his cottage had already been cultivated and planted with these fruits. Whenever the light of the two stars in the planetary system shone upon the fields at once, the lush plants always seemed especially fresh and vibrant.
In this new home, which bore almost no trace of technology, Thanos seemed particularly lonely. Everything from the past appeared to have become fleeting clouds, though he occasionally still thought of Death, of his former obsession and fervor.
At that moment, Thanos was gazing up at the stars. This planet's atmosphere had no color, allowing him to directly see the pitch-black expanse of space and the celestial bodies within it.
Many planets had once trembled beneath his wrath, but what he saw now was not the stars he still recognized. Instead, he saw multicolored luminous lines that had abruptly appeared in space, resembling both blood vessels and fishing nets.
As a scientist, and someone who had once stood at the forefront of technology in the Marvel Universe, he could tell that they were paths of energy transmission.
What puzzled him was where this
