Luthor rose from the side. Instead of speaking at once, he took out something resembling a cellphone, pressed it against Mera's forehead, fiddled with it for a moment, then checked the readings.
Then the bald man smiled, clearly having come up with an idea:
"External Force requires External Force to deal with it, doesn't it, Batwoman?"
Batwoman said little. She operated the Final Machine and ran a series of tests on Mera as well. Though she was using technology just like Luthor, she clearly did not trust the bald man's equipment.
Soon, she got an answer too. Then she turned and left, leaving behind only one sentence in the darkness:
"I need a quick nap. I'll be back shortly."
Under normal circumstances, Batwoman only needed half an hour of sleep every seven days. Her brain was highly developed; she could even use meditation and Zen concentration to rotate rest among different parts of her brain, allowing her to function without sleep.
Her sudden need for a nap was actually to hypnotize herself into entering the Dreaming and find someone.
So, when she stepped out of the darkness and back into the sight of the bald man and Starro two minutes later, a pale man in a black robe was following beside her.
Like Luthor, she believed Mera had undoubtedly been brainwashed by an External Force, which naturally required an External Force to undo. So she had brought Dream. She had originally intended to find Dream of a Thousand Cats, but Batwoman was human after all, and Daniel was the first one she encountered upon entering the Dreaming.
During Barbatos's invasion, Daniel had used Dream Communication to give Batwoman a dream message and caused a huge disaster, nearly getting the Justice League wiped out.
Though the Superheroes had not said anything,
