"Ding!"
The elevator's arrival drew the attention of nearly all the guards on the top floor. Was Mr. Wayne planning to come watch the sunrise today? But thick clouds had completely covered the sky outside. Daytime might be even darker than night today.
However, when the elevator doors opened, a row of more than a dozen Batarangs flew out. These Batarangs looked different from before.
If the old Batarangs had looked like crescent moons, these looked like double-bladed axes without handles—heavier and deadlier.
Before the guards could react, more than a dozen of them fell in an instant. Then a pitch-black figure burst from the elevator amid wild laughter.
Wayne Tower's backup power system had already been activated, but it only supplied the elevators and the faintest basic lighting. Bruce did not want Wayne Tower to shine like a torch in the darkness while the entire world was without power. That would cause plenty of problems.
And that consideration happened to give another Bruce Wayne an opportunity.
In the dim darkness, only a mouthful of white teeth could vaguely be seen, stretched into a laughing grin.
There were also two gleaming butcher knives for deboning cattle, controlled by terrifying martial skill as they rapidly harvested heads.
Heads and blood flew through the air, and the laughter soon stopped.
"So few people? You're really no fun." The Batman Who Laughs wiped his blades on the corpses, then wiped his shoes. "Hmm, they should be here soon. Three, two, one."
"Ding ding ding ding." The Batman Who Laughs suddenly turned around. His twin blades danced like a meat grinder, forming an impenetrable wall of dazzling steel that blocked more than a dozen black arrows.
