Wayne Tower was a rather conspicuous landmark in Gotham. Though it no longer seemed tall or grand enough by modern standards, the enormous white W atop it was always lit at night.
The construction of Wayne Tower did not conflict with it in any way.
The public explanation was that Wayne Tower served as a public observation deck. Wayne Enterprises-sponsored communications equipment was installed below to strengthen cell phone signals throughout Gotham, create a landmark to boost civic pride, and monitor the weather and environmental pollution. That was why it had been built so tall.
In short, there was a whole pile of reasons. Bruce was always good at making things sound noble.
Wayne Tower, meanwhile, served as Wayne Enterprises' headquarters, where more than a dozen subsidiary companies worked together. It was the true heart of the corporation.
How Wayne Enterprises made money and developed its business was all decided through meetings held in this building.
Take the famous Wayne research division, for example. Dr. Fox worked in the building's basement year-round, secretly helping Batman develop equipment.
That old man had spent his entire life researching high-tech gear for Batman in a place without daylight. Now even his own son had become Batwing and been dragged into the murky waters of superheroes. His life was truly bleak.
When Su Ming had last seen Dr. Fox, he had noticed that the man was in poor health. Years without sunlight had even left him showing signs of rickets, his face as wrinkled and shriveled as a dried walnut.
Compared to Dr. Erskine, he was in far worse shape.
Dr. Erskine was already in his seventies, yet he could still eat three bowls of rice, drink a bottle of liquor, and cut three mu of pineapples in one go without breaking a sweat!
