"You actually dragged me into an illusion? Vishanti above, what are those plants? How could they pull two people into the same illusion at once?!"
Monark stood helplessly beside Su Ming as the two of them returned to the purple grassland once more. The Magic Prince was gagging himself, apparently planning to vomit up the green juice he had just drunk.
"Enough, enough. That was Heart-Shaped Herb. It nourishes your yin and moistens your lungs, strengthens your body, and most people would kill for a drink." Su Ming patted his back irritably, but it felt like patting cotton. "Besides, we're both soul projections now, in a higher dimension. What do you think a soul could possibly throw up?"
Wakanda's defenses had clearly been strengthened this time, especially around the Leopard God statue, where more than a hundred hidden sentries had been stationed. Not to mention bizarre things like automatic javelin turrets and fully intelligent axe-throwing machines.
Yet they were useless. Technology worked in nearly every world, since there was usually no conflict in the laws governing it. But if it was not advanced enough, if the energy level it used was not high enough, then it was often still helpless against magic.
Because magic stemmed from concepts, it often represented one of four forces: time, space, chaos, or order. Within the appropriate universe, it could display its greatest power.
So Monark opened a portal and sent them directly into the city. Su Ming then casually went into the herb fields, as though harvesting vegetables from his own garden, plucked a handful of Heart-Shaped Herb, crushed it into juice, and fed Monark half a bowl while drinking the other half himself.
Then, as though experiencing Soul Out of Body, the two entered a mysterious world.
Monark gave a bitter smile. "You
