"Why are you here?" Su Baizhou asked.
"Just visiting."
Luo Ye handed Su Baizhou the milk tea he was holding.
After spotting Fairy Senior here, he had taken the time to buy a cup of milk tea before coming back.
His heart lurched when Luo Ye saw the clear handprint on Fairy Senior's face, but he didn't ask any questions.
Something unpleasant must have happened. If she wanted to talk about it, she would. If she didn't, he wouldn't ask.
Taking the milk tea, Su Baizhou stood up and said, "They're not serving customers here anymore."
"Yeah."
Luo Ye glanced back, and then his stomach started growling.
He hadn't eaten very well since last night. He'd had Blue Porridge Ramen for lunch, but he was already hungry again.
Hearing his stomach growl, Su Baizhou picked up her suitcase and rose to her feet, saying softly, "Let's go get something to eat."
But because it was a holiday, and Lingyin Temple was up in the mountains, the taxis and buses heading downhill were all packed.
The two chose to walk down, though it was a very long way.
Luo Ye took the suitcase from Su Baizhou to carry it for her, and they set off down the mountain.
After about half an hour, they had left the most crowded stretch behind, but neither suggested taking a taxi.
Neither had spoken during that half hour, either. They simply walked side by side in silence.
Luo Ye finally stopped when they passed a convenience store.
There was a sausage grill outside the store, and the sausages looked and smelled delicious.
More importantly, Luo Ye was really getting hungry.
Su Baizhou looked over as well.
Unlike Luo Ye, she hadn't eaten all day.
She instinctively swallowed, then looked at Luo Ye and said, "If you want some, I'll buy two."
"That's not enough. Way too few."
With a sweeping gesture, Luo Ye bought six and had them put in a bag.
He handed his senior one, figuring that girls probably ate less, and then ate the remaining five himself.
Su Baizhou looked at the grilled sausage in her hand and began eating.
By the time she finished it, she noticed that only one remained in Luo Ye's bag.
"That one's mine. Give it here."
Su Baizhou held out her palm and demanded it with a perfectly serious expression.
For some reason, Luo Ye suddenly found Fairy Senior rather cute like this.
It was the unexpected contrast of a fairy descending to earth and cooking at a stove.
This side of his senior made her even more charming.
He didn't know when it had started, but Fairy Senior, who had once seemed so far beyond his reach, could now appear beside him-even walk alongside him-and it all felt perfectly ordinary.
With a few grilled sausages in his stomach, Luo Ye finally wasn't quite so hungry.
He checked the time and found that it was already past seven.
It was completely dark now. Luo Ye and Su Baizhou walked a little farther and reached the lakeside.
This was Hangzhou's most famous spot, the West Lake that gave West Lake Vinegar Fish its name.
Besides Luo Ye and Su Baizhou, plenty of couples were strolling leisurely nearby, hand in hand.
The lake was beautiful. Across the water, they could see the mountains where Lingyin Temple stood, with temple-like buildings glowing prettily on the slopes.
"That's so far away," Luo Ye said in surprise. "I didn't realize we'd walked this long."
In the past, he would have been complaining about being tired long before this.
But with Fairy Senior beside him, he only wished the road would never end. He even wanted to keep walking forever.
While Luo Ye admired the scenery by the lake, Su Baizhou took out her phone and booked a taxi.
Their destination was the bus station.
She had just bought two tickets to go back to the countryside forty kilometers away. At this hour, tickets for the night bus were available.
By the time Luo Ye snapped out of his reverie, the taxi had already stopped by the roadside.
After getting in, Luo Ye asked in confusion, "Where are we going?"
"The bus station."
"Huh? Are we going back to Jiangcheng?" Luo Ye asked.
"No."
Su Baizhou looked outside and opened the window a little.
Wind slipped through the gap, lifting Su Baizhou's long hair and carrying an intoxicating fragrance toward Luo Ye.
The alluring scent made Luo Ye's heart race. Looking at his senior's stunning profile, he stammered, "Then... where are we going?"
"My home."
Su Baizhou knew that Luo Ye must have nowhere to stay after coming to Hangzhou, so he could only come back to her mother's place with her.
Hearing this, Luo Ye lowered his head, feeling a little nervous.
My luggage is still at the hotel...
Forget it. It's just some clothes anyway. I can do without them.
How could clothes matter more than her?
The taxi arrived at the bus station.
They found their bus and set off on their nighttime journey.
There weren't many passengers. Everything was quiet, with crickets chirping in the surrounding grass.
Moonlight streamed through the window and spilled over Su Baizhou's face.
Her delicate features were breathtaking no matter how he looked at them.
Su Baizhou sat in the window seat, while Luo Ye sat beside the aisle, holding on to her suitcase.
Su Baizhou propped her elbow beside the window and rested her chin on her hand, gazing calmly outside.
Luo Ye looked down at his phone.
Whenever he was bored, he would check the freshman group chat.
There were always a few attention seekers in the group.
Right now, for instance, a guy claiming to be from a wealthy family had posted a picture of a supercar, saying, "If I'd known, I wouldn't have driven here. I didn't expect parking on campus to be such a hassle."
Some people responded with speechless reaction stickers.
Then the rich kid actually tagged Tang Enqi in the group.
:@Tang Enqi, hey, Enqi, doesn't my car look cool?
Tang Enqi didn't dare reply at all.
Although this guy might really be from a wealthy family, this was school. People cared more about their reputations here than money.
Replying directly would make girls like her look like gold diggers.
Of course, outside school, most people would choose money over pride. Still, there was no denying that school was one of the few places where everyone could appear equal.
Suddenly.
The bus jolted, and Su Baizhou involuntarily leaned toward him. Luo Ye felt something soft settle against his shoulder.
His expression changed. He had never been more nervous in his life.
"Senior?"
Luo Ye lowered his voice to a quiet murmur.
But the person beside him didn't respond. He turned his head slightly to look at the Iceberg Goddess beside him and discovered that she had fallen asleep.
No wonder she had been so quiet. Luo Ye had thought she was admiring the scenery.
The sight of Fairy Senior like this made Luo Ye's heart flutter. He stared unblinkingly at her lovely face, unable to tear his gaze away.
She's... really so beautiful.
And although she seemed so strong on the surface, she was actually a sensitive girl who needed someone to look after her.
The handprint on Su Baizhou's face was no longer visible. Without thinking, Luo Ye reached out and touched her lovely face.
He had never touched a girl's face before. Even now, he only gave it a gentle poke with his finger.
So soft...
Are all girls' cheeks like cotton?
Luo Ye didn't notice Su Baizhou's eyebrows twitch slightly, though her eyes remained closed.
