Before Lamb could finish his threats, the White Lion lunged at him.
The White Lion pounced ferociously.
Amid a series of screams, another death announcement appeared.
The death announcement popped up again.
[Lamb of Ugly Country has died. Comprehensive assessment: Ugly Country loses 10 points of national fortune. Current remaining points: 80.] [A heat wave of 50 degrees Celsius will descend upon all of Ugly Country for 10 days.]
This sent the people of Ugly Country into an uproar too.
"Has Sakura Country, with its nice little life, gone crazy?! How dare they stab our great Ugly Country in the back! We have to impose sanctions!"
"Exactly! When has our great United States of Ugly ever suffered such humiliation? We need to drop a Little Skinny on Sakura Country!"
"Agreed! Drop ten Little Skinnies! If they really do it, I'll donate a year's salary!"
"Me too! I'll donate ten years' worth!"
"You Ugly Country dogs dare insult our great Sakura Country? Donate your salaries? Don't think I don't know about your zero-dollar shopping sprees. You loudmouths don't have any damn salaries!"
That comment struck a nerve with quite a few people from Ugly Country.
They hurled abuse back, turning the live chat into utter chaos.
Unlike their stubbornly defiant citizens, Sakura Country's government was now in a complete panic.
That brat Yamashita Kenichiro had actually screwed over Lamb from their big daddy country.
This was no joke!
If the other side really lost its temper and dropped a few Little Skinnies on them, how could their palm-sized country possibly withstand it?
That would finish them off for good.
So they went all in, once again embracing their masterful art of bowing, and began apologizing.
At the same time, they arrested Yamashita Kenichiro's entire family and forced them to slit their bellies with knives to atone.
After a series of compensation payments as well, they finally managed to quell Ugly Country's anger.
Back in the Horror Story World, things continued.
Su Chen was rather surprised to see Yamashita Kenichiro screw Lamb over.
But on second thought, this was hardly the first time Sakura Country had done something like that.
He simply laughed it off.
Then he surveyed the situation in the Lion Enclosure and discovered that only twenty-odd normal people remained.
All of them were wounded, their blood flowing without stop.
Just then, the most powerfully built White Lion walked toward Su Chen.
Su Chen sighed as he watched the White Lion draw closer.
He knew his own contamination must be severe too.
Otherwise, according to the relevant rules, merely hearing a White Lion roar should have been enough to cleanse his perception.
There would have been no need for the lion to approach him.
Once he understood this, Su Chen did not feel too dejected. After all, he still had one chance left.
So he fearlessly raised his left hand toward the White Lion.
The White Lion opened its enormous, bloody maw and gently bit down on his left arm.
With a surge of excruciating pain, Su Chen felt as though his entire soul were being torn apart.
It was as if a part of his soul had been stripped from his body.
Soon, the White Lion released its bite, turned, and walked away.
Su Chen sank into thought as he watched the wound on his left arm stop bleeding and slowly begin to heal.
According to the Employee Handbook, there was the following passage.
[(This passage has been crossed out) If you are unfortunate enough to be attacked by a White Lion in its normal state but do not die on the spot, rules 6 and 7 are void. Do not rush to the hospital. You will not die. After leaving the Lion Enclosure, head to the Aquarium. You will find it very soon. You will put on a black work uniform.]
Clearly, his next step was to go to the Aquarium and look for clues to escape.
Fortunately, he had encountered employees dressed in black before.
There was definitely something wrong with those people.
So Su Chen certainly would not put on a black work uniform.
And that might just be a necessary condition for escape!
Having worked this out, Su Chen wasted no time and headed straight for the exit.
The staff dressed in blue did not stop them. They merely watched them expressionlessly.
It was as though they were looking at outsiders.
Su Chen smiled, unbothered, and slowly pushed the heavy iron door open a crack before leaving the Lion Enclosure.
The instant he stepped outside, he saw the Aquarium.
A huge Aquarium had appeared out of thin air where the Zoo's exit should have been.
"Just as I thought. Leaving through the Zoo's normal exit is nothing but a pipe dream!"
"I wonder what tricks you'll play in the Aquarium."
Su Chen muttered under his breath.
Then he started walking toward the Aquarium.
Suddenly, Su Chen caught a familiar figure out of the corner of his eye.
He stopped, turned his head, and called toward the woods beside him.
"Stop hiding. Come out."
At his call, someone emerged.
Yamashita Kenichiro slipped out from behind a tree.
"Your powers of observation are truly keen, Mr. Su. I'm impressed!"
Kenichiro approached with a friendly expression.
"Since you already escaped, why come back? Have you got more questions?"
"Yes, Mr. Su. I'd like to ask how you managed to leave the Lion Enclosure alive."
Su Chen smiled and asked pointedly, "Aren't you afraid I'll fool you?"
"Aren't you afraid I'll deceive you?"
At those words, a shadow crossed Kenichiro's face.
A cold gleam flashed through his eyes.
But he quickly forced another ingratiating smile.
"I trust your character, Mr. Su. I'm sure you wouldn't lie to me."
Kenichiro had maneuvered Su Chen straight onto the moral high ground.
He was intensely curious about how Su Chen had survived.
He even had a vague feeling that it was closely connected to escaping successfully.
So he could only play the sycophant once again and come to Su Chen for help.
